On September 3, 1969, I arrive in Vietnam.
No doubt somebody told Ho Chi Minh that Big Bad Don has arrived.
This is proven by the fact that Ho Chi Minh died of a heart attack on that same day.

Such an achievement, and you still vote Democrat.

Such an achievement, and you still vote Democrat. So what did you have against the balanced federal budget of Billy Clinton and what did you like about the absolutely ridiculous deficit left by Baby Bush? Perhaps you like that Baby Bush spent a lot of money in other countries so their people can learn to hate us even more as they teach their kids to kill us all later. -Don-

Bush liberated Iraq and gave the people a chance at democracy. I have no doubt that the vision of Iraqis voting had a lot to do with Arab Spring. As for teaching Iraqis to hate us, I doubt if Saddam was teaching them to love us.
As for the deficit, well, there is a high price to be paid for democracy.

IOW, you think we should force the American way on other countries if they want it or not. And pay a lot to do such. IMO, only one issue should have been on their ballot, "should America get out of Iraq?" What do you think the vote would be? And I guess you don't like the idea that a democrat ordered OBL's head blown off. And BTW, it would have been better for us if we left Saddam Insane in power. Perhaps better for most of Iraq too. We just caused them a lot of problems with Iraqi Two. I will admit Daddy Bush did a great job in Iraq, all to be messed up by his stupid kid. -Don-

The fact that it is from MSNBC says it all..... I'd have to see the entire bill to decide whether or not I agree with it being defeated. We are all aware of the fact that the title of a bill frequently has little to do with what is contained in it. For all I know this "Hire the Veteran" bill had ammendments to outlaw heterosexual marriage

My problem is that jobs bills or retraining programs tend to become make-work projects for the bureaucracy.

My problem is that jobs bills or retraining programs tend to become make-work projects for the bureaucracy. That is so true! Another set of government jobs created and a whole staff whose jobs depend on the reelection of the folks who gave them the job.

Here's more on the subject. It appears that it involved more than just the Republicans wanting to keep soldiers from getting jobs....
WASHINGTON - Senate Republicans blocked legislation Wednesday that would have established a $1 billion jobs program putting veterans back to work tending to the country's federal lands and bolstering local police and fire departments. Republicans said the spending authorized in the bill violated limits that Congress agreed to last year. Democrats fell two votes shy of the 60-vote majority needed to waive the objection, forcing the legislation back to committee. Supporters loosely modeled their proposal after the President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's Civilian Conservation Corps used during the Great Depression to put people to work planting trees, building parks and constructing dams. They said the latest monthly jobs report, showing a nearly 11 percent unemployment rate for veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan, merited action from Congress. Full article here

Okay, it was a sacrastic comment on Romney's 47 % comment. I think that the veterans deserve extra care of the state for which they risked their life, but of course I'm a European "Socialist".

I'm guessing you are joking when you say that. Yes, but it seems that my sarcasm is not necessarily compatible with everyone.
