The average VN peasant saw Pigs , Lamb and Beef only in his wildest dreams , Chicken perhaps on a good day snake on the average day , Cat on a great day roasted whole covered in a savory sauce .

In this forum, we roast pigs, lamb, and cows, NOT cats or dogs. Even that Dixie hick Denny wouldn't stoop that low. No dogs? I thought you were Chinese and: Can you read that? That sign is from inside a restaurant in Gulin, China (2010), which we did eat in. -Don- SF, CA

Dog meat, ugh.
I'm Canadian Chinese, and we don't eat dog or cat meat.

Cats discussion reminded me of a comment made here in Oz when the socialists took office in 2007, the comment was that trying to manage the MPs in that party would be like trying to herd Cats. And the dysfunction and chaos since shows that the commentator was right

Dog meat, ugh. I'm Canadian Chinese, and we don't eat dog or cat meat. Well, in Gulin, it was like the main dish in every restaurant. But since we are doggy lovers, we never tried it. BTW, people go to Gulin for the scenery and such, not for the food. But the food is great in places such as Shenzhen. Our passports are full of Chinese mainland stamps because we often went to mainland China from Hong Kong just for dinner. The food in Shenzhen cannot be beat. But it's mostly Mandarin, because the city started from people moving down from the capital and such. Seems SF and the Vancouver area (especially Richmond, BC, IMO)now have better Cantonese food than does Hong Kong. I guess all the decent cooks left HK. But now in Hong Kong you can find a three story McDonald's about every block. Instead of the apple pie, they have a red bean pie. No thanks. -Don- SF, CA
