I would like to welcome a very special friend, Robbieroberts, who is living in Pakistan, is a devout Muslim, and can give us his point of view. Rob, can you please tell the forum about yourself?

Welcome to the forum. I'll just give you MY opinion; others can speak for themselves.
As an American, I'm sick and tired of financially and militarily supporting countries who not only don't like us, but who turn against us. Pakistan is rapidly becoming, if it isn't already, one of those countries. I have no doubt that the Pakistanis feel negative about the Americans because of their perceived colonialism which is obviously something the Pakistanis have been through before. Pakistan has taken high risks for the US and that has been appreciated. Why the "people" turned against us is not at all clear to me.
Regarding being a devout Muslim, that frequently sets of warning alarms to a Westerner. The Muslim faith that I knew in the 60s and 70s seems to have been replaced by a blatant radicalism that calls for the death of anyone - and particularly Americans - who don't agree with them.
I welcome you because I'd like to be able to discuss affairs such as you brought up, in a rational way rather than in an ideological manner. It would be nice to have a rational exchange of ideas, for a change.

This thread is to welcome Robbieroberts - I've started a proper thread on Pakistan - let's take the debate there.

Welcome RR, are you a cricket fan? Most in Pakistan are!
If you are then you will know that Australia is not doing well of late. From #1 to #10 in a decade, and not much to look forward to.

SJ ;D Dropping in standing in cricket is not something I would be too concerned about Welcome new member - we are most interested in what is happening in your country as we, probably, are getting just a small portion, of one side, of a complex story. The rest of my comments are to be found in the thread on Pakistan that Swampy started. Welcome aboard.

This thread is to welcome Robbieroberts - I've started a proper thread on Pakistan - let's take the debate there. In that case, please transfer my post to the appropriate area. I was responding to his question and that was the only place available at the time. There was no debate - at least not yet - just a direct response to his direct question.

Denny first of all I would like to tell you that the way you are speaking shows that you are speaking what you hear in the news. The truth is something else. None on the people here want to take part in your war its just the Governments that's dealing with your Government. Secondly the thing you are saying about Muslims being killers and terrorist. We are not terrorists, We are educated people, we Score Distinctions in Cambridge International Exams every year. We live with our rules and regulations, we don't let our women show off their bodies in every place because we believe that a Woman is like A precious and beautiful like a diamond and its beauty should be kept in safe rather than showing it to the world that's why they wear Hijab. Muslims don't go astray from their religion and if you are afraid of this type of nation then what can I say? And we don't kill people without any reason. You are the one's who attack with drones in areas where innocent children live. You people are the real terrorist. If you have a good memory then please try to remember that how many attacks you did in Pakistan and what did we do? we didn't destroy the World Trade Center. We didn't destroy Heroshima, Nagasaki. we didn't kill people at the Premier of Dark Knight Rises, we didn't kill thousands of innocent people in Afghanistan. And still we are Terrorists?

RR,
Glad to see that you are a fan, we have to stick together against these American baseball and pansy ball fans.
Gilchrist was a gem, and so was Ponting in his best days, but he has stayed far too long. Not sure yet about Clarke, but I have my doubts.
Best,
SJ

SJ yes I don't like baseball, its like a copy of cricket. They also named Rugby as football while the real football is something else. Yes you are right. In our Pakistani team Shahid Afridi is a Gem but there are some personal problems because of which he's not able of playing well.

Swampy,
Cricket is NOT a game or a sport, it is a WAR!!!
It has 4 separate battles fought in alternate sequence, and the end result can be in doubt many times over the 5 days of the 4 battles, and even then can change in minute or two.
As RR pointed out it has a lot in common with baseball, but is FAR more exciting and frustrating and annoying.
