Being killed by faith, or even killing others because of faith is nothing new, but here is another story. "they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them." (Mark 16:18).-Don-

It's somewhat uncommon to be killed by the average US rattlesnake bite, but it is often so painful that many will wish they were dead. The rattlesnake venom burns when it is injected. So even without treatment, he was likely to live, but that wasn't the way it worked out in this case. I doubt if there are many religious venomous snake handlers there in Australia. There you have the the most deadly venomous snakes in the world and not nearly as many will get a second chance. Here is some info on the Taipan. Before the antivenin the number of known survivors from its bite is zero. Most died within 60 minutes after being bit. -Don- SSF, CA

(Mark 16:18).-Don- Christian Scientists refuse all medical treatment. There was a case when a boy died, having been denied modern medicine, and IIRC the federal government sued the parents. Jaina saints (India) believe that all life is sacred,, including the life of plants. So they cannot eat anything -- and as a result, they all die. What was the name of the prize given to those who killed themselves and thereby improved on the quality of the Homo sapiens sapiens gene pool? Muslim terrorists are told by their imams that if they kill themselves in a suicide mission, they will me admitted immediately to the Heaven and soon will meet 72 sexy virgins up there. Such early, primitive mind manipulation! Why is the cow sacred in India? Perhaps it is holy so that the common people would not eat all the cows -- and the bramins (Hindu priests) can have tasty cow meat meals? Dr Y "The world runs on Bravo Sierra" as I said earlier, inspired by one of our intel people.

There have been countless cases like that here in the USA too. But it is illegal here also for parents to let their own kids die because of their childish & dangerous superstitious nonsense. -Don- SSF, CA

And one of the primary reasons that so many people do buy into bravo sierra is that the "system", ie. the priesthood, the culture, the local government, the press, all are both buying into BS, and force feeding BS right into the mouths of the citizens, starting from the earliest childhood. I'm under the impression that religion is not taught in the U.S. schools, and this is actually in the Constitution. Am I correct? In Finnish schools the Lutheran religion is a mandatory subject throughout the entire school years. Conclusion? The world needs another Enlightenment! AJY

I'm under the impression that religion is not taught in the U.S. schools, and this is actually in the Constitution. Am I correct? Not exactly. There are many private religious schools and all religions may be taught "equally" in public schools. But since that is not possible, it is best to mention none of them. But what the First Amendment to our US Constitution says is: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."However, the way it is usually interpreted is to keep all religious nonsense out of public schools. Private schools can teach all the superstitious nonsense they wish. When I was in the sixth grade (1960), my teacher would start the class every morning with the Lord's Prayer. Back then, nobody thought anything of it. But things have changed a lot since then. -Don- SSF, CA

Of course they will carry news content about religious events with political significance, and such; but never any superstition. Businesslike; factual; scientifically correct; and independent media content to my opinion furthers what I called "Enlightenment-like" thinking and values. Kudos for those people. When you read the New Testament, it is actually pretty bloody and hostile. "I have not come unto the Earth to bring peace, I came to bring the sword." "Who is not on our side, is our enemy." And then the writers threaten the reader with huge supernatural punishments if somebody disbelieves in them in the least extent. It is so very easy to promise eternal bliss after death -- no one has come back after death to complain for dishonest and fake religious advertising in the New Testament.

I have been thinking about the idea that crazy superstitious religion is a disease.
It seems to be a remnant of the primitive times of humankind; when the attempt to explain and rule over the nature and the reality was magic, and witchcraft, and superstition. Before the times of rational science, which historians of science count as starting with the ancient Grecians.
As I have said; ever since the time that Homo sapiens sapiens acquired a thinking mind, humans have had an unbelievable urge to explain, understand, and rule the reality. Its just that superstitious religion has the wrong paradigm, and a paradigm which comes from the pre-paleolithic age: magic, witchcraft, superstition.
To my opinion, theology, and religious science, should be under the science of theoretical philosophy. How's that?
