A message from Blue Cross Blue Shield Professor Emeritus John W. Hill, JD, PhD Kelley School of Business, Indiana University MEDICARE Look clearly at the 2014 rate compared to the 2013 rate. For those of you who are on Medicare, read the following. It's short, but important and you probably haven't heard about it in the Mainstream News:
"The per person Medicare Insurance Premium will increase from the present Monthly Fee of $96.40, rising to:
$104.20 in 2012
$120.20 in 2013
And
$247.00 in 2014."
These are Provisions incorporated in the Obamacare Legislation, purposely delayed so as not to confuse the 2012 Re-Election Campaigns. (Not to make Obama look bad.)

I'm on the fence on this one, because I enjoy Canadian medicare, but, OTOH, I know there's a waiting list for surgery, while that's not so in the US, if you can afford it.

Sure, where a public health system has to take the degree of capacity utilization into account, sometime-uncritical surgeries might have to be rescheduled to increase efficiency. Overpaying allows over-capacity.

On all the surgeries for me and my wife and for any of my friends, there has NEVER been ANY wait at all. They are just scheduled and duly done. It has nothing to do with affording it (with regard to Medicare).

Now remember, Denny, Obama is taking 700 billion out of medicare and placing it in his Obamacare. The funds won't be there, as they were in the past for medicare. And also one must pass Obamacare's 70 year old age limit to get care. Here is where you come up against his Death Panels.

No problem in either case. I'll be dead before Medicare and SS run out of money and I don't care what happens after that.

I don't know why many people here in the USA think government here does a worse job than private. We can compare UPS to the US mail for one example. US mail is cheaper, faster, has less theft and is better in every way, but for some reason I don't understand, most companies prefer to use UPS to send their packages out. And I hear of all kinds of problems with the mail system in Canada, including strikes and being very slow compared to here in the USA. Do you find that to be true too? There are some things that government can do a better job with than the private sector, IMO. -Don- SSF, CA

Mail service in Canada isn't too bad. I've heard it was real bad compared to the USA. Perhaps you have gotten used to it. I recall mail strikes and such too, which never happens in the USA. -Don-

Three "kids" and five grand children. What's your point (as if I didn't already know)? Seems you're saying that you don't care if the SS money runs out on your kids and grand kids. What other point could I be making? -Don-
