a cyclo race down TuDo street at about midnight..... On TuDo Street at midnight! Really Jerry. And what were you doing there? Wasn't TuDo wall to wall with bars, or were you looking for USO for donuts and coffee? Today, it is no longer TuDo Street but something like "Revolutionary Way" and is wall to all with computer shops. You would not recognize it.

The Aussies operated an air strip near Vung Tau also. I hopped a lift out of there to Saigon once..

I remember now, they operated the DHC 'Caribou' and C130 there.

The Aussies operated an air strip near Vung Tau also. I hopped a lift out of there to Saigon once.. The CIA was at Vung Tau. What were the Aussies doing there? Intelligence? After the war, the Russians made a real mess out that place in thier search for oil.

Canada didn't send troops either, though many Canadians did volunteer for the US military, and, at the end, they were stationed as peacekeepers. Canada had about 50,000 volunteers who fought in Vietnam in US units. About 500 died and like their US peers, many more came home traumatized or seriously injured or both, but they didn't have the kind of veteran support their colleagues had.
