One week 7 days was All the in Country training you got when you arrived in Vietnam then you were sent to your new unit and your new unit was not happy to see you because the new guy was prone to screw up and get others killed or if you took the new guy under your wing the new guy was a distraction and could get yourself killed .

And the 8th could have built him a Railroad . Well, it wasn't the fault of the Diggers; it was Percival's fault, for not fighting even when he had all these troops.

Actually the British and Australian troops did quite well. First time under fire, and outclassed by a vastly more experienced foe.

I don't recall ANY training while in RVN. All I recall are the shit details and such for a few days. However, one of our shit details somehow got cancelled and then they didn't know what to do with us. So they told us to go down to the beach and swim around all day (Cam Ranh Bay). By far, my best day in Vietnam. And as FNGs, all we would hear is the word "Short!!!" on the way to our unit in the Central Highland boonies. -Don- Reno, NV
