"I have to experience it to understand what it's about, I guess. Any place I can travel to, where a tourist can experience it for himself? "
Fire up the G650 and fly to the city of Cairns Queensland. Take a BIG stretched limo to Kuranda, ignore the zillion tourist rip-offs in the main street selling Made In China trinkets.
Do the Barron Falls tour but ONLY in "the Wet" (Monsoon)! In "the Dry" the Falls are dry.
Then take the stretched limo to the town of Atherton, a small sleepy hollow at the top of the tableland. Drive in the stretched limo to the neighbouring, even smaller sleepy hollow of Tolga. Call in to daughters place at Serenity Crt and introduce yourself, tell them you are Sir Johns mate and they will give you a cuppa and bickies!
Won't cost ya much! For an extra $1000 they will take you to the preservation of tropical rain forest nearby. You will soon see that i am correct.

How do you know, you have never been here?
Our biggest attractions are the 'Big Mac woz Here' sites.
Like Bachelor Strip, Alice Springs, The Ghan, Terowie. The Big Bunker in Melbourne, the BIGGER bunker in Brisbane, and the BIGGEST bunker in Port Moresby. Can't be too careful when you are only 1000 kms from the front line.
SJ, all cracked up!
