May the two of you have a great 2022. Whatever happened to all the members of the old military forum? -Don- Ladson, SC (headed for South Georgia next, hopefully a lot warmer there)

Tet is not returning, and the others have just gone to the forum in the sky or moved on.

I am of the firm opinion that the ONLY safe winter place in the 48 is KEY WEST!
About the same latitude as Gladstone in Queensland. Daughter and hubby in Far North Queensland, are at about the same as Kingston, Jamaica.
In the thriving metropolis of Shepparton, it was 31.9C at midnight last week.

Don,
Tet became a troll in our FB group and was banned. He's still around, as far as I know, but he hasn't come back here.

Don,
A poor use of words I am afraid. I meant safe from the terrors of a US winter, not to mention the terrors of a Canadian winter. Australians usually start complaining at 20C or less as a daily top. Our mass migration in winter is to Queensland where it is "BEAUTIFUL one day, PERFECT the next" as the man on TV keeps telling us.. Much of our Grey Nomad days were spent in Queensland with 6 straight years without a winter, two seasons called up there either the Wet or the Dry.
We use the word 'Cyclone" here, as do i think most in the southern hemispere. We get them often, usually north of the Tropic of Capricorn. Tornadoes are a weather feature we rarely see here and you can keep them too. Along with Grizzly bears etc.
