AND, www.abc.net.au/news/2022-07-25/heather-ewart-top-10-country-pubs/101239402Been to the Club Hotel in Croydon FNQ ("Far North Queensland"), as far as you can get in the "The Top End" of the outback, almost. The William Creek Hotel on the edge of Lake Eyre on the Oodnadatta Track. and the Adelaide River Inn - OFTEN! 120 Kms south of Darwin with a rich WW2 history where almost all of the vegetables for the Allies in the SWPA were grown and processed. Three large hospitals were busy patching up Yanks and Aussies prior to evacuation south. SJ

Are you doing another cross-country tour again?

Unfortunately no, I think my driving and travel days are over.
Even getting to the big city airport is too much and my last trip to Cairns took TWELVE hours door to door, with a 3hr 40 minutes flight time.
Being about to reach 84, the travel insurance is greater than the air fare if I wanted to do another trans Pacific trip. As for the Canning Stock Route or the Tanami Track, I have no hope. I have 2 maps on my wall, Australia and the USA with the roads, air, and Amtrak all traced out.

PS, The bloke in the pic is my son, Peter. We drove right across on I-10 and then north via I-95. 59 nights. That made a total of 23 states and 33 cities.

So, if you didn't travel, what did you do?
You have a handsome son, by the way.

At the moment, priority #1 devoted to wife and her life in the nursing home ("Aged Care Facility").
Dementia and memory loss etc make life difficult, and relationships hard to manage.
