What? Did you all go to Jamaica with Swampy? Nope .... I'm here, don't know if the others will take it positively or negatively I said previously that the US intel community are very, really faithful friends. A couple of minutes ago someone like that sent me a top-of-the-notch 'Net heart problem test, with approx 25 individuals points in the test. I was grateful that someone is so very concerned about my health, and decided to immediately come here to discuss military, and such, points......... A. J. Y.

I am still around too, but been busy with many things, including my brand new motorcycle. A 2013 Triumph Trophy SE with every possible added extra. Just over $22K out the door. And I decided to retire on the last day of this year. I will have plenty of time for my new toys. Right now, I am hiking with RenoBoy doggy on San Bruno Mtn in Brisbane, CA. -Don- Sent from my AT1S0 using proboards

"in Brisbane, CA." Interesting, how do you pronounce that, and any idea on the origin of the name?

"in Brisbane, CA." Interesting, how do you pronounce that, and any idea on the origin of the name? It is pronounced just as it looks. The "a" is long. Bris-Bane. See here for more info. -Don- SSF, CA

What? Did you all go to Jamaica with Swampy? No way. I know of two people who got ALS just after returning from Jamacia. I don't mean to scare Swampy, I assume it's just a coincidence. But I won't bet my life on it. -Don- SSF, CA

"In the 1920s Arthur Annis,[6] who many describe as the "Daddy" of Brisbane, arrived. He proposed the name change from Visitacion City to Brisbane. Annis regarded the name Visitacion City as a handicap "being so close to a San Francisco city district with a similar name", a situation he felt would confuse people and would prevent "Brisbane" from establishing its own unique identity. Accounts of how the city acquired its name vary. According to his daughter, the city was named for Brisbane, Australia,[7"
I had never heard of this place in CA.
Brisbane Queensland, was named for Sir Thomas Brisbane, Governor of the Colony of New South Wales at the time. He pronounced his name "Brisb'n, as so many of the British aristocracy clipped their name short. The name of Melbourne, Victoria became "Melb'n" for the same reason. I presume that Melbourne FL is pronounced phonetically also.
Lord Melboure was Queen Victoria's closest adviser.

I'm surrounded by lovely Jamaican lasses, and I don't want Don and Tom to be here, or those lasses will think I'm cheating on them.

Amazing, I actually drove through it on 101 on our way to San Jose and then via Carmel to San Simeon and LA. It's an easy place to pass without even knowing you've been there. On 101 south, Brisbane is located between San Francisco and South San Francisco. Both places are on the base of San Bruno Mountain. If you take the Brisbane exit, you will see the town is very hidden and country like, yet is so close to SF. Better weather there than here too. Here, weather can change a lot in a mile or so. Here in SSF it can be very foggy as it's sunny and warm in Brisbane. -Don- SSF, CA
