Here's an article attempting to explore the reason behind an increase in Green on Blue attacks in Afghanistan. There seems to be an unanswered question as to whether these attacks are "purely personal" or if they are the result of succesful Taliban inflitration of the Afghan forces. Anybody got any thoughts? KABUL, Afghanistan - The U.S. military trainers handed the new recruit, Mohammad Ismail, his AK-47 to defend his remote Afghan village. He turned around and immediately used it, spraying the Americans with bullets and killing two - the latest of nine U.S. service personnel gunned down in two weeks by their supposed Afghan allies.
The shooting in western Farah province was not the only such attack Friday. Hours later a few provinces away in Kandahar, an Afghan soldier wounded two more coalition servicemen. One turncoat attack per month raised eyebrows last year. One per week caused concern earlier this year. But when Afghan forces turn their guns on international trainers twice in a day - as they now have two weeks in a row - it's hard to argue there's not something going on. The question is, what is it? It's interesting to me that allied troops (or at least Americans) have been ordered to have their weapons locked and loaded at all times now. If that doesn't send a message, nothing will. The unfortunate fact is that the Afghanis who are doing the killing obviously feel they have a direct path to Allah.

From the article,
But it also notes there are 340,000 Afghan personnel, so maybe these are just anomalies. Furthermore, the Americans were warned not to be too quick to recruit in the villages, which were heavily Taliban-influenced.
So it's not so simple. Remember that the liberal press castigated Americans for being fascist occupiers in VN, when the people supported the efforts to oppose communism. So I wouldn't be quite so fast to condemn the Afghans.

I don't condemn the Afghans, I condemn us for being so stupid to still be there. Or to have even gone in in the first place.

Remember, EVERY one of these peace loving muslim brothers have been brainwashed since birth to hate the infidel.
The koran tells them over and over to shun them.
"Convert, or KILL the Infidel".
"Do not take the Christian or the Jew as your friend".
There are 100s of them in the koran.

I think Obama's administration's political correctness has to share the blame here. It is astonding that our side could not have loanded weapons on a base until two days ago. WTF is that? And now, having created some of the problem by making our side sitting ducks, the Obama administration adds another layer of PC BS: it is no longer "green on blue," which wasn't a perfect description but at least lent some clarity to the problem. Rather, now, it is just an "inside attack," as if it could be an attack from sometone other than a jihadi muslim terrorist.

I agree 100%, Tim, but, in all fairness, we can't fault the obama political correctness group. We were not allowed loaded weapons in Saigon either....

The liberals are not responsible for this; the rest of the world is - that's the Obama Doctrine.

The White House isn't giving away enough of America's secrets, so they (the Afghans) are creating these problems to figure out what POTUS's next secret giveaway will be. I know: this makes very little sense, but does anything regarding the White House make sense?
