Actually, I do not feel all that deeply about the question one way or the other. Like most Australians, I/we had a high regard for QE2 and the job she does and so on, but in the 'Republic Referendum' of about 10 years ago the question was so badly and deliberately composed that it would have given FAR too much power to the PM and NIL to a 'President'. The President would have been an appointed, powerless, figurehead.
I voted 'NO' and would again if that is all they propose of it. It was just a power grab. The referendum failed miserably.
