Please report back, Don - I've been following this for awhile. I'm also wondering, if 99% of the local animals are gone, what're the pythons eating now? Is their population set to crash as they starve?

Please keep us posted, Don. Are you just driving through, or are you visiting each place as you stop?

Please keep us posted, Don. Are you just driving through, or are you visiting each place as you stop? I am taking several long stops. I spent a week in ABQ, NM. I am now in Marianna, FL. This is just west of where the time changes to EST in NW Florida. I really like this little town. Has everything one could want yet is in the middle of the boonies. Nice weather and all. I could see myself moving here. I have been here for three days. I leave for the Everglades in the morning, which will take two days to get to from here. It's still 600 miles away and I lose an hour at the time zone change. Signs by the river here right in this RV park say watch for the gators and snakes. Here is the WX report here.-Don- Marianna, FL

That's nice, but I understand the gators have been mostly eaten by the snakes, namely, the Burmese pythons.

That's true, Don, but I understand that 90% of the local wlidlife is gone, eaten by the Burmese pythons. So the bottom line is that the ecosystem is dying, unless something is done to get rid of those snakes.

So the bottom line is that the ecosystem is dying, unless something is done to get rid of those snakes. IMO, that is very exaggerated. Think about this. There are about 1.3 million gators in Florida alone. They eat the same stuff as those pythons. The gators are often a problem, see here. And gators need to eat more often than those snakes. It just doesn't add up. BTW, I got to the Everglades just a few hours ago. I will stay here for a full week. -Don- Everglades Nat'l Park, FL

I hope you're right, Don. 400 million bucks means there is a lot of BS involved. The snakes will have some negative effects, of course, but probably not as much as replacing them with all with more gators. -Don- Everglades Nat'l Park, FL
