Don, You said there're lots of gators, but what about the other wildlife? The media said 90% of the wildlife had been eaten by Burmese pythons, so have you see deer, raccoons, and the like? While I don't recall seeing many mammals other than many squirrels and such, I don't think that means much. I don't believe the 90%. The Burmese phytons mainly eat up the rodents in the Everglades. Since these snakes are cold blooded, they do not have to eat much. IMO, the gators eat up more of the Everglades than do the snakes. Gators and the pythons eat the same stuff when it comes to mammals and the everglades has many gators. Pythons can eat much larger food, but their main diet is smaller rodents (such as those squirrels that are all over the Everglades). They also eat birds, and those are countless all over Florida, with the most birds seen in the Everglades. I am not saying the phytons are not a problem, but the problem is exaggerated by the media, IMO. -Don- Ladson, SC
