I've been thinking of semi-retirement, so this interests me. Many are, in fact, thinking of retirement to Costa Rica or some other stable country, where the cost of living is cheap.

Do not get sick in the Rich Coast.

The nearest hospital is a zillion miles away.

And given the scrooge like pay rates etc in the US military, I should hope they all get the benefits. Grand-daughter is a SQN LDR (Major), soon to be a WNG CDR (Lt Col) and she is presently on about AU$120,000 (US$90,000) a year.

The days of the cashed up GIs are over it seems.
