Will probably go down in history as one of the best in near 1000 years since the Conquest, and another 1000 years before it. SEVENTY years with her nose to the grindstone and never put a foot wrong in all of them. No retirement plan worth having, as her last breath is also the first in retirement.
Came to the throne on my 13th Birthday in 1952, and left it leaving a HUGE legacy to the somewhat strange bunch in her vast family. Will be followed by an extra strange King Charles 3rd, or even perhaps King Philip 1st.
Britannia will put up with Charles until he developes a bad back and appoints William as Prince Regent first and then King William 4th? Followed by King George 7th and his first child, male OR female.
RULE BRITANNIA!

The question is if the monarchy should continue - I'm not convinced it should.

I think it should, as it is a stabilising influence on much of British and Commonwealth day to day life.
Not perfect, but a hell of a lot better than the purely political mess we have in the world today. And 1000 years of continuity, with a couple of blips, is a record hard to beat. I am also certain that Queen Elizabeth 2nd will go down in history as one of the best in that 1000 years.
I am certain it will continue, and KC3 is only a pause as Britain awaits William and George.
SJ.
PS, That second American divorcee will be consigned to the dustbin of history along side Mrs Simpson.

Meghan Markle will NEVER be an accepted member of the British Royal family. I am certain she knows that.
The eventual divorce is a certainty.
