Rule #1.
NEVER buy off eBay!
Rule #2.
Do not worry too much about the buying price, you will laugh at what you paid in 2013, in 2015.
Rule 33.
ALWAYS buy with unrecorded transactions, the guvmint has spies everywhere, and they are just waiting for another of FDRs gold confiscations. Believe the worst of them and act accordingly. Just ask the Cypriots!
Rule #4
Tell NOBODY what you are doing.
Rule #5
NOTHING but physical G & S that you can have in your hand and buried DEEP.
Rule #6
Eat this post.

I always would recommend rule 5 for G&S as an alternativ currency investment, they are easy and safe to hide.

True, if a government can take your bank account, and confiscate your gold like in 1933, then NOTHING is safe. Governments can buy the very BEST metal detectors available, choose your site carefully.
And your neighbour is a bit suspect too!

Hide metal in metal and never in something people might want to steal or borrow.

I frequently buy off eBay. Never been disappointed yet. Of course we are probably talking about different categories.

Within the precious metal forums the general consensus is that there are too many frauds and shonks flogging stuff on eBay.
Not worth the risk. Most are not $20 purchases, much more than that.
