Snipers are from the dark ages, as I have often stated, and Ukraine has shown, the new world of war is with missiles, drones and soon the laser.
Trench warfare faded into the history books, as will mass movement of troops of battalion and brigade/division level. The Javelin and its many equivelents keep the troops 1000 meters and more apart and a tank, truck, bunker, and machine gun can be removed with the press of a button. Or the Drone style computer game controller so familiar to a 20 year old Marine.
Why bother with a 7.62 round one by one from that 1000 metre range when you can destroy the bunch of them beside a truck with one guided shot.
Ukraine has shown the world just how to win a battle against a greater force.
