With the advent of increased diversity it was inevitable that a Mexican border crosser and an Arab political refugee should meet at a noted California University. As nature would have it, they fell in love, and married, and soon produced offspring in the nature of twin boys. In respect for the mother's background, one boy was called Juan and to honor the father's upbringing the other was named Amal.
Unfortunately, while on their way to school one day, the twins, who were inseparable, were struck by a drunk driver and whisked to the local hospital by ambulance. When notified of the disaster, the parents went as quickly as possible to the hospital to be with their sons. Due to their extensive injuries, the boys were placed in separate rooms. The first room on the third floor was Juan's and they went in to comfort their son. After a prolonged period, the father became impatient and prevailed upon his grieving wife to return home to care for their young daughter.
His wife was adamant that she would not leave the hospital until she had seen and comforted their other son. After a long marital discussion the frustrated father declared, "By Allah's beard, they'er twins, once you have seen Juan you have seen Amal!"

Groan is right. But I don't get his other joke.

I take it as a play on the Shakespearean speech in 'Julius Caesar'.

I'm no Shakespearan fan, so I don't know the speech referred to.

I'm no Shakespearan fan, so I don't know the speech referred to. " Friends, Romans, Countrymen, lend me your ears. We come not to praise Caesar but to bury him.....etc....and so on...." Quoted to the best of my memory... after all, it's been 57 years...
