Did anyone watch it? What did you think? I wasn't terribly impressed with it at first although I thought it picked up as he went along. Listening to the pundits later was an exercise in futility. The CNN weenies said that he stirred up the masses and then proceeded to essentially downplay the speech. The public TV weenies tried to keep it fairly level and said that he gave a speech that those at the convention were stirred by. What I like is that now we SHOULD be able to vote on the issues as the division between the two sides is pretty obvious. Unfortunately, both sides will attack each other and will not focus on their own policy suggestions. God but I hate presidential elections!

Yep - I watched the whole thing. I agree, Denny, the first part of his speech was a yawner, but he picked up as he went along and outlined some significant differences between the philophies of the two parties, and did it without personal attacks on Obama. As far as 'stiring' presentations, though, I thought the two ladies who preceeded him were much better at ginning up the crowd. Condy Rice in particular hit all the points - one after another - and made you listen. [And she did it without a Teleprompter] Her personal story and the Gov of New Mexico's personal story were inspiring, and drew a sharp contrast between the Republican 'you can do it if you work hard and play by the rules" and the Democrat "the government is there to help you - cradle to grave - with all its many programs"

I missed the ladies speeches but they are the talk of the campground this morning. Everyone raved about Condi especially. She must still be inspired from being announced as one of the two women invited to join Augusta National!

That would sure inspire me! I might even take up golf again! That would be the easy part - you'd have to give a knock down inspirational speach on national TV
