A common joke in the Confederate Army was one soldier pointing to another and say look at him he has shoes that look like feet .

Shippensburg (half way between Chambersburg and Carlisle) has REALLY grown. When i went to school there back in the early 70s, the town didn't even have a McDonald's. Now it has a couple of Motels, all the fast food places, three or four car dealerships and both an AutoZone and an Advance Auto Parts. I don't spend much time in Chambersburg so I can't comment on its growth. i do know that the town's attempt to sell the airport to some developers a number of years ago was thwarted by the local pilots convincing the Susquhanna Airport Authority to purchase the airport and rename it the Franklin County Regional Airport, thereby saving it from extinction.
