Farscape returns. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FarscapeClearly one of the most hallucinogenic sci fi shows in recent years...after all, they are riding around in a giant space squid being piloted by an enormous, talking mushroom......is back on some cable network. Well worth a look from time to time.

Well worth a look from time to time. I prefer more realistic fare - like "Sponge Bob Squarepants" or "Cinderella"

Well worth a look from time to time. Farscape is OK, but I'm a Trekkie. I think, however, that most SF shows today are special-effects shows, with no thought experiments, and that's too bad.

Farscape is fascinating because of its willingness to consider aliens as something other than human look alikes. There is the sexy, blue, bald plant woman, the guy who looks like a Welsh Corgie, the guy who looks like the cowardly lion, and the others including the human hero, Crouton or Cretin or Criton.

I have only ever read ONE science fiction book and saw its screen version, and that was 'Day of the Triffids'.

You need to get hold of some of the old classic stuff by Asimov or Heinlein. Thought provoking and, in many cases, predictive of what we have as everyday technology today.... Not that they were 100% as some of the older stuff has the ability to use a slide rule as a requirement for astranaut training. They didn't come up with computers until later, but did predict credit cards and digital data storage

Farscape is almost unique in the realm of grown up science fiction (I was going to say "adult", but aht conveys a sense I was not intending to describe the show) for its very clever use of puppets (provided by the late Jim Hensen). The creature Rigal is very believable, particularly in conjunction with its overpowering, regal voice.

Good point about non-humanoid creatures. But my favorite is Chiana.

That is the sexy plant girl, right? I'm not a Farscape fan, but I think you're referring to Zhaan, who is played by a good-looking Australian actress. I'm referring to Chiana, played by Gigi Edgely, who is also a good-looking Australian actress.

Both - why restrict yourself?
