It's facing budget cuts, and it has no independent ability to send its astronauts to space - it relies on the Russians - so what is its next step? It is sending an unmanned probe to study moon dust, but I think it should focus on finding ways to commercialize space, in particular, using the zero-gravity environment to manufacture products that cannot be made on Earth.

We, the US, have traded exploration for supporting the sick, lame, lazy and immigrant. No money left for space...

NASA has done much but accomplished little , Man on the Moon yes that was a biggy , digital watch's yes , compressed food items that have no shelf life yes , adult diapers yes another good one , something that landed on Mars , wish it had been Obama . NASA went from a dream to a budget nightmare .

There is no Shuttle program to be renewed. The follow-up program for a US space ship, the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, is already making a lot of progress. The launch of EFT-1 (Exploration Flight Test) is planed for September 2014.

Didn't know about Orion. I've posted the information on our FB group, attributing the information to this forum.
