Bushfires burning for days now with many homes burnt to the ground, one of the worst hit areas just west of Sydney in the Blue Mountains, part of the Great Dividing Range that goes from near Melbourne to the top of Queensland www.abc.net.au/news/

Yes they are, the present are the worst for ten years and there is much anger that preparations, clearing ground litter and burning off fire breaks has not been done regularly enough due to green politics lacking common sense. The Australian bushland needs fire to regenerate but there are ways to manage it and mostly stop wildfires going out of control and into populated areas.

FIVE kids, one only 11, have been charged.
Bring back the birch and the rope I say! Transportation to the colonies for 7 years sounds about right.

We have been VERY lucky with deaths this time around. One 'civilian' I think, and two pilots. Lord knows how many houses.
I expect the Army will get a BIG compensation bill in due course.
What the hell do you do with kids that light a bushfire?

Swampy the fire possibly started by military explosives was hundreds of miles from the fire on the NSW south coast where a fire bomber aircraft (Cessna crop duster) crashed after a wing broke off during a bombing run in a valley.
Al Gore was invited to be interviewed about climate change alarmist claims that the fires are caused by global warming from climate change, warming that stalled 15 years ago in 1998. This is rubbish, in fact the rain the alarmists said would never fall again enough to fill the dams has filled the dams and boosted plant growth too.
Green regulations have limited safe conditions burning off and clearing fuel from public and private lands, coupled to extra plant growth the areas now on fire were waiting for warm, dry weather conditions and people with common sense have been concerned.
The GW/CC alarmists should be locked up
Also, the Australian bushland trees and shrubs need fire to germinate seeds and to survive, it has been a cycle for at least 60,000 years during which the Australian Aborigines deliberately lit fires when conditions were safe to protect their tribal land from wild fires and to hunt. When the British first arrived they noted the "park like" appearance of the bush.

In 1788 the Aussie Bush was a great big park, thanks to land management by the Aborigine Australians for some 60,000 years. But since because of green imported lack of management bushfires are more intense today, aided by increased plant growth since the last drought ended and the rains the Green extremists said would never again fall enough to fill dams filled all of the dams. www.thefifthestate.com.au/archives/43503/

Today, 29 October, electrical storms, hail the size of golf balls, heavy rain, cool outside, no bushfires out of control now.
My Country
The love of field and coppice Of green and shaded lanes, Of ordered woods and gardens Is running in your veins. Strong love of grey-blue distance, Brown streams and soft, dim skies I know, but cannot share it, My love is otherwise.
I love a sunburnt country, A land of sweeping plains, Of ragged mountain ranges, Of droughts and flooding rains. I love her far horizons, I love her jewel-sea, Her beauty and her terror The wide brown land for me!
The stark white ring-barked forests, All tragic to the moon, The sapphire-misted mountains, The hot gold hush of noon, Green tangle of the brushes Where lithe lianas coil, And orchids deck the tree-tops, And ferns the warm dark soil.
Core of my heart, my country! Her pitiless blue sky, When, sick at heart, around us We see the cattle die But then the grey clouds gather, And we can bless again The drumming of an army, The steady soaking rain.
Core of my heart, my country! Land of the rainbow gold, For flood and fire and famine She pays us back threefold. Over the thirsty paddocks, Watch, after many days, The filmy veil of greenness That thickens as we gaze ...
An opal-hearted country, A wilful, lavish land All you who have not loved her, You will not understand though Earth holds many splendours, Wherever I may die, I know to what brown country My homing thoughts will fly.

And at local government/council level Australia has been mismanaged by Green extremists who have created regulations that stop land owners from clearing fire fuel from their land, from burning off to reduce fuel, all in the name of environmental protection that often ends in environmental vandalism as wild fires ruin the environment. And National Parks under funded management and bans on land management too. Madness!!!
