Answer Vietnam , we had great military leaders and some of them were officers we had soldiers that were as good as anything the Empire could put forth , but what put cluster in the cluster fuck , politicians what else , a good part of Westmoreland's time was taken up by visiting politicians who showed up for photo op's , Westmoreland handled it the best he could by assigning staff officers to give the grand tour , many groups were brought to Cu Chi to view the twenty five NVA prisoners in the stockade there these prisoners looked mean in their NVA uniforms and thrilled the visitors , none of the prisoners were NVA all VC .
