I just received this via email this morning so have not taken the opportunity to research whether or not it is true. If it is, God bless 'em!
In 2007, Missouri placed on the ballot a proposed constitutional amendment designating English as the official language of Missouri. In November, 2008, nearly 90% voted in favor! Thus, English became the official language for ALL governmental activity in Missouri. No individual has the right to demand government services in a language OTHER than English.
In 2008, a measure was passed that required the Missouri Highway Patrol and other law enforcement officials to verify the immigration status of any person arrested, and inform federal authorities if the person is found to be in Missouri illegally. Missouri law enforcement officers receive specific training with respect to enforcement of federal immigration laws.
In Missouri, illegal immigrants do NOT have access to taxpayer benefits such as food stamps or health care through Missouri Health NET.
In 2009, a measure was passed that ensures Missouri's public institutions of higher education do NOT award financial aid to individuals who are illegally in the United States.
In Missouri, all post-secondary institutions of higher education to annuallycertify to the Missouri Dept.of Higher Education that they have NOT knowingly awarded financial aid to students who are unlawfully present in the United States.

We have all we need, thank you very much.
Funny thing about the VAST majority of the illegals from Mexico is that they are very hard workers and excellent "citizens". Without them, much of the menial, but necessary, labor would never get done and there are many among them who are skilled artisans. If only they didn't tax our schools, hospitals, etc so much I'd welcome them with open arms. Too bad there isn't a process whereby they could easily become legal quickly.

All they have to do is file for a work permit. I have seen it done and it works pretty well.

If that's the case, why don't they do it? I don't believe the old saw that they are too dumb and ignorant because most are neither. It is was really that easy I feel more would do it. I suspect there are some regs that the US imposes on those who want to enter the country that makes it difficult for them.

Whilst in a CA motel in 2004, our room was 'serviced' by a Mexican couple.
They had choreographed the re-making of the beds, and the cleaning of the bath room, and were out the door in SIX MINUTES!

>If that's the case, why don't they do it?<
I think the hang up is that they may need a sponsor and are probably limited in the duration of the permit.

I hate to show my ignorance, but is that the same for ANYONE coming from outside the states who wants to work here, theoretically temporarily? We let in Sir John so he could be serviced by a Mexican couple. Of course he was here as a tourist. I'VE never been serviced by a Mexican couple although there were plenty of times in my earlier life that I would have enjoyed that.

denny,
Unfortunately the ROOM was serviced, not me, but the couple were not at all attractive. I think the wife had a better mustache that her husband.
I mus tsay that i was very impressed by the positive attitude to the task and it efficient conduct.

Yes. I know an Englishman who worked for Motorola that had a limited stay.

And by the way, if you are in Mexico on a tourist visa and carrying an attaché case, you are subject to arrest. Tourists are only allowed to sport cameras.

Seems the days of the USA as an immigration nation are gone. How many of today's US citizens might have had to leave if these rules had been in place from day one.....

30% of our prisons are filled with illegal Mexicans. This might say that we are getting undesirables. Under such circumstances, we jerk up the welcome mat.

Seems the days of the USA as an immigration nation are gone. How many of today's US citizens might have had to leave if these rules had been in place from day one..... Time was when immigration to the US was done legally. One applied for admission, followed the rules and was admitted legally. This did not include slipping across the border in the dark of night, crossing the border by tunneling, or by being smuggled across the border in the back of a moving van with 40 of our closest friends at an exorbitant cost paid to some coyote. Most Americans have NO objection to legal immigration - illegal immigration is what they do not like. Why? you ask. Because it is illegal. Another bad thing about illegal immigration that few who endorse it want to talk about is that it opens the illegal immigrant up to exploitation. Since they are illegal, all knds of bad things can be done to them, and they are afraid to report the abuse because they are illegal and therefore with little protection of law. I know lots of folks who are willing to hire illegal immigrants and pay them far below the legal minimum wage. What can they do? Nothing.
