Horror and film buffs will know that the 1973 movie, "The Exorcist" was based on an incident in 1949 involving a boy, "Robbie". As the story goes, the boy was possessed by evil spirits, and, over several months, the Catholic priests worked to free him of those spirits. A panel was convened to discuss the incident, and it came down to faith - skeptics say the boy was either delusional and/or trying to get attention; believers say he was really possessed. I'm a believer, but I don't just believe on faith, because there were many incidents that show something was happening that could not have been due to a child's fantasies or acting up. For example, he could speak Latin, for another, the words "Hell" was written in blood on his belly when his hands were tied. And, after that, there were a lot of "ghostly" sightings or noises that occurred in the hospital where he spent time. The only way to discount this is to say EVERYONE was either delusional or lying, and that's hard to accept.

The only way to discount this is to say EVERYONE was either delusional or lying, and that's hard to accept. Nonsense is still nonsense, regardless of how many claim the nonsense is true. And "real exorcism" is just an oxymoron. -Don- Reno, NV

The only way to discount this is to say EVERYONE was either delusional or lying, and that's hard to accept. Nonsense is still nonsense, regardless of how many claim the nonsense is true. Then you would have to say all the witnesses were either lying or delusional, and that is hard to accept.

Then you would have to say all the witnesses were either lying or delusional, and that is hard to accept. Why? Do you remember how many people claimed to need to have an exorcism after the movie came out? Many people see whatever nonsense they believe or wish to see. If it sounds like nonsense, it's nonsense, unless it can be proven otherwise by the scientific method. Yes, countless people, when all together, can all be delusional. That been proven many times. -Don-

The witnesses in the 1949 event were reliable, and the witnesses at the hospital after the event were medical professionals and so were also reliable.
If eyewitness account isn't good enough, then don't believe in Julius Caesar or the Peloponnesian War.

Have you talked to any of those witnesses? It only takes one person to say a million reliable people saw it happen.

No, what makes the story nonsense is because it's obvious nonsense to any logical thinking person. Not all history is based on nonsense, only some, but especially religious nonsense.
So my simple rule holds true. If it sounds like nonsense, it's nonsense, regardless how many some claim saw the nonsense happen.
