AUCKLAND, New Zealand -- The 33,000 additional U.S. troops that President Barack Obama ordered to Afghanistan to tamp down the Taliban attacks nearly two years ago have now left the country, but a new wave of deadly insider attacks and a reassessment of how NATO troops partner with Afghans have raised questions about how well the military strategy is working.
While we reduce the number of troops we have in Afghanistan, violent incidents increase and more troops are killed by 'our friends'. more here

The AQ is trying to make a comeback in Afghanistan. This may be a concern, because, if the Coalition forces leave, the Taliban will return and can provide a safe haven again for the AQ, who can then recuperate. Then again, the Taliban may have learned their lesson and so will want to ensure their guests don't do anything that will disrupt their power.
