I fear that the same feelings are growing. Even I am beginning to question why we are still there. But, should we 'cut and run' the Taliban will have won with just a hand full of sneaky combatants and suicide bombers. It will become the modes operendi for taking over more and more nations - just a few shooting just a few - until everyone asks, "Is it worth it" and walks away from the field, leaving the radical Muslim in total control. Which control will be maintained by injecting the same fear into all citizens - Liberty will be gone forever....

Yes, that's my fear. In this sense, I like what the British did with the mutiny on the Bounty - if you kill the captain, someday, somehow, they will bring you to justice, no matter what it costs. This is to discourage others from turning on their superior officers.
In a similar vein, we have to discourage terrorists from trying to destroy freedom.

As much as I hate to admit it, Obama's way, with the drones, is probably the best bet. It requires a lot of actionable intel, but if we keep knocking off the head of the snake, soon it will get through to even the densest, most fanatic, Jehadist that it is not a healthy position to be in. Without leadership, the individual terrorist will be easier to deal with.....

You're right - I'd rather sacrifice drones than our precious soldiers. But we will need boots on the ground, not just to guard the embassy but also to impart the ideals of freedom and democracy to the people.

I've been saying for years that our presence there is a waste of time, money, and most importantly, people. I could care less what happens to the poor school children when we leave. We CANNOT continue to believe that our way of life is the only way. Some people will always be in the Stone Age and this is an example. We should've left a long time ago.

I am leaning toward agreeing with you, Denny, if only they would stay in their stone age enclaves. The bastards start expanding, however, and start bugging us in our safe little nests....
