Not sure about NYE, but the OZ troops celebrated Xmas 1941 in Palestine and Syria.
Each man was issued with TWO bottles of beer (= 4 cans).

And when the Canadians were fighting the Battle of Ortona in 1943, they had their Christmas turkey dinners, eating in shifts. That must have been some dinner, because, a little later, the Germans broke off the battle and retreated.

Some people I know celebrate New Years just about every day , during WWII why not if the right ingredients were in place go for it .

On January 1, 1945 the Luftwaffe attacked multiple airfields causing the loss of many aircraft on the ground. However, they lost a lot of planes in the process and this was the last major attack they could mount before the end of the war. The allies had plenty of aircraft to replace their losses and their manpower.
