ARVN units reatreted leaving American units dangerously exposed or in many cases surrounded , regulars in the ARVN were conscripts with corrupt Officers when the offence started they headed south destination unknown , this conduct enraged the Americans , officers were hard put to keep their men from firing on the ARVN and were not always successful .

Perhaps, but the ARVN did pretty well in 1972. As for the Tet Offensive, the ARVN may not have been at its finest, but the VC was destroyed, so the ARVN came off better.
And you know today is Tet, don't you?

Yes January 31st the lunar New Year time of the great rice harvest . granted some ARVN units Rangers , Air Borne did well enough regular Army not so much didn't have their heart in it .
