There has always been a certain rivalry amongst the different services , Vietnam was a no exception but it was an Army show hands down the 1st Cav was the crown jewel when all its components were added up the 1st Cav. div was the size of an Army corps ( 2 div ) and when the Cav. moved things happen bad things for any enemy in the way , the Marines claim victory at Hue forgetting their victory was made possible by Cav. and the 101st airborne div. who kept the big mean off the Marines , it was the Cav. that lifted the siege at Khe Shan .

No not Khe Sanh that was a different war zone a couple hundred miles north of me , remember some discussion on what it was all about but Westmoreland seemed to know what he was doing though at times it seemed that he was the only one who knew what he was doing ,LBJ was concerned it would be another Diem Bien Phu .

I am sure that is what our peace loving Vietnamese brothers thought too.
Certainly what I thought at the time.
