Anyone who's heard of the book and movie, "Black Hawk Down" will know of the Battle of Mogadishu that took place in October 3-4, 1993. That battle was a total disaster for allied forces, because they failed in their primary objective, to capture Warlord Aidid, and also because they lost face when the corpses of killed American soldiers were dragged through the streets. Part of the problem is that the US, flush from its victory in the Gulf War, was focused on fighting a conventional war with tanks and massive firepower; it was not prepared to fight an urban warfare in the context of a peacekeeping mission. The other problem is that they were aliens in a hostile environment, and there was no clear mandate as to why they were even there. So, in the end, we lost many fine American soldiers for nothing.

No, the USA lost because they didn't took it serious enough to bring those forces as they had done the first time,

When the US CentCom took over UNITAF for UNOSOM II, it had a clear mandate and the right to use "all neccessary means". It was the only time that the German Bundeswehr outgunned the US Forces in such a mission, as we had at this time the only tanks (small, no MBTs) in Mogadischu.
