I really don't care what Ann Coulter - or anyone else for that matter - said about the debate. I watched it in its' entirely. As I've documented here, I was not a Romney fan andbecause of that was not going to vote in the Presidential election. After last night, I'm leaning heavily toward voting as I was very impressed with Romney and not so much with Obama. Obama looked tired and slightly defensive while Romney looked like, well, a leader. I'll make up my mind probably sometime after the final debate, but I was impressed with Romney last night.

Yes, Obama was not up to the job that evening. It looked as the US president was not able to catch up some sleep after he was awoken by the call of the Turkish prime-minister that Turkey will retaliate against Syria; lot of phone calls in the very early hours of Washington time zone. What we Europeans learned was that Big Bird will be fired and that Spain is the new Greek.
I don't believe in judging politicians by what they say in a prepared debate. Their problem/conflict solution technics are more important for me.

Obama seems to have recovered from last night's debate. He is back to twisting words and meaning...
"We didn’t know that Big Bird was driving the federal deficit,” Obama said, mocking Romney’s debate pledge to eliminate federal subsides for PBS.
The man insults the intelligence of the American public who actually listened to the debate. He is sounding more like Biden every day.

Guy Benson's results on the debate:
First up is CNN, which polled 430 American adults (not likely, or even registered, voters) with a D+4 sample. So the deck was somewhat stacked to begin with. And yet:
- 67 percent said Romney won the debate, 25 percent said the same of Obama; among independents it was 75-17 (!)
- 82 percent said Romney performed better than they'd expected, 61 percent said Obama fell short of expectations.
- Mitt Romney's favorable rating jumped to 56 percent.
- Romney led on every issue polled: The economy by 12 points, healthcare by five, taxes by nine, and the deficit by 16.
- Asked who would be the stronger leader, Mitt won 58-37; that's a 21-point lead over the sitting president.
- Romney even won the "likeability" head-to-head, albeit by a single point.
- By a 2-to-1 margin, voters said the debate made them more likely to vote for Romney than vice versa.
Next we have CBS News, which only polled undecided voters -- 523 of them, to be precise:
- Romney won, and it wasn't close: 46/22.
- Asked if the debate improved respondents' impressions of the candidates, 56 percent said this was true of Romney. Just 13 percent said the same of Obama.
- On issues: Romney +21 on the economy, +37 (!) on the deficit, +5 on taxes, +1 on energy. Obama maintained a small lead on Medicare, though Romney gained ten points on that issue overnight.
- The percentage of undecideds who said they were now voting for Romney increased by 12 percent. Obama flat-lined.
- Prior to the debate, these undecideds were asked if Romney (1) understands the needs of people like you, (2) has strong leadership qualities, (3) has made clear what he'd do if elected. They were asked the exact same questions after the debate. Here are the percentages of undecided voters answering "yes," pre/post debate: (1) 30/63. (2) 59/78. (3) 22/54. That first one is huge.

I am glad I did NOT watch the debate! Obama is the first US president I've liked for a long time. I don't care how well he can BS in a debate, unless it causes him to not get re-elected. And in this case, it just might. But it won't change my vote.
I think he will get the 55 electoral-votes from CA no matter what he does at this point anyway.

Care to share with us why you like him?

I've written this before but I'll do it again.
Not on a political basis - although I appreciated that he had the cajones to go after OBL - I like him because he appears to be the type of guy I'd love to sit down with after a round of gold and have a beer and just shoot the breeze. He is an outgoing guy, the type I feel comfortable with. My best friend is a STAUNCH liberal Democrat and we get along great because we don't discuss politics.
Remember, you asked why we like him, not why we like his politics.

Don't think it took many cajones at all - most anyone I know would have done the same thing without a second thought. And I actually asked Don why he liked him as a president, but I appreciate your input. Personally, I kinda like to trust the guys I drink beer with - and I don't think I can trust him based on the stories he's told both in speeches and in his many books..... Just sayin'....

Care to share with us why you like him? Mainly, because I have yet to disagree with him on any issue. Such a relief after so many years of that idiot Baby Bush. However, there are some issues, that I cannot be sure of, such as if ObamaCare is really a good idea for the majority. I don't think any of us will know for sure until a few years of it. I expect some bugs will needed to be worked out. But with so many companies hiring only part time these days to avoid health benefits, it seems like it could be a necessity. Tom & I will NOT benefit from it in any way, but we're not that selfish to use that for a reason to be against it. I also like the way OBL's head was blown off, without any BS until after the job was completed. I will also admit that to us, to show other politicians that the guy who openly admits he supports same sex marriage can get re-elected over the guy who does not, is a big important issue to us. I cannot think of any issue that we disagree with Obama on. And Tom is a registered Republican. I am a registered libertarian. -Don- SSF, CA
