And, of course, so are lawyers, accountants, and doctors who just graduated. This is not confined to Australia or the developed world, but also the entire globe, as it struggles with the new normal. I graduated from law school in the early 1990's, and the world was in a funk then, but it wasn't as bad as now. Still, I felt really, really demoralized, so I know how they feel today. I wish them all the best.

Swampy too many Australians have graduated with law degrees, I come from a family in which two out of three children are lawyers (not me) and one of them has four children who are lawyers and a husband who is a lawyer. One is a barrister, all have masters degrees and two have economics degrees as well. I am advised that there are not enough jobs to employ many graduates and that there are many young lawyers seeking positions in general business areas and/or returning to university to obtain a different qualification. As you point out accounting is also an over supply occupation. However there are plenty of vacancies for doctors here if the young doctors are willing to move to regional country towns and provincial cities. Sadly too many are not willing to leave cities and the vacancies, not all, are taken up by immigrants.
Recently I was looking at my local medical centre's list of doctors and noted that over half have foreign names.
A few years ago my sister who is a lecturer in laws was shopping for Christmas in a food hall in a large department store and she heard young people serving customers there talking about legal matters, a court case, and when se=he inquired all four had law degrees but had been unable to find positions. The IT Age is biting hard and there will be major changes in job markets.

Tbe same is true in North America, Premier, but, as we have discussed, there are opportunities, and a young entrepreneurial lawyer has to learn to take advantage of them. Actually, many senior lawyers have to do the same as well.
