Of course it takes no faith to accept the "Big Bang Theory"... Perfectly logical and scientific that, for no known reason, there should be a big explosion which created an universe....yeah....

Of course it takes no faith to accept the "Big Bang Theory"... Perfectly logical and scientific that, for no known reason, there should be a big explosion which created an universe....yeah.... There exist mathematical theories concerning about, where the Bang possibly could have come, or then maybe not. And I said that in order not to disagree with jerryfmcompushaft. The Higgs boson could, under some circumstances, cause a negative gravitational force, ie. a pushing gravitational force, which could have given the energy for the expansion of the Bang. In quantum mechanics there invariably exist quantum "fluctuations"; according to one recent theory these fluctuations could have made literally something come out of an empty nothingness. Something came out of nothing? A little bit Douglas Hofstadter-like, I quote something out of one of my short stories:
Bereshit bara Elohim et hashamayim ve'et ha'aretz
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the universe.”
Wa ha'aretz hayeta tohu wa bohu; wa choshekh 'al-penei tehom; wa ruach Elohim merachefet 'al-penei
hammayim
“And the universe was formless and void; and darkness was upon the face of the waters; and the spirit of
God was moving upon the face of the waters”
And Douglas Hofstadter? Well he liked to quote Zen philosophy, without having the slightest belief in Buddhism. AJY

You have just pointed out that one theory is no more or no less believable than the other....

You have just pointed out that one theory is no more or no less believable than the other.... Actually, what I had in mind when writing that was to attempt to prove that the two theories are more or less equivalent with each other. Some physicists have proposed that the nondeterminism in quantum physics creates a "God-sized" hole in the theories; but I'm not enthusiastic about these theories with a "God of Holes". AJY

Jerry hit the proverbial nail on the head. How can NOTHING create a big explosion? Only an act of faith can think that's a natural occurrence.

So it comes down to, not science, but what you believe.... One should believe in science; and generally speaking, the objective truth. The world runs on bravo sierra.
Much of international politics comes down to what individuals, each individual one of them, will believe. Some American acquaintances said to me, that in individuals' worlds thought precedes deed. AJY

Jerry hit the proverbial nail on the head. How can NOTHING create a big explosion? Only an act of faith can think that's a natural occurrence. In quantum physics, virtual particles will constantly come out of nothing. (And soon vanish.) But an entire universe? Theories exist -- but no one on the face of the Earth knows.
