The Vietnam memorial in DC is simplicity in its self just a black marble ( granite ) triangle with 58,000 name etched on it , I was there when it was dedicated 1982 Ronald Regan showed up to say a few words that turned out to be a lot of words about a half hours worth and the thousands he was talking too were mostly drunk but Ronald had a way about him that put everyone at ease he even took a nip off a bottle passed to him to the amusement of everyone but his secret service detail , these were the days when America was BEAUTIFUL . I wish you could have been there .

One of the MAJOR disappointments of 2004, had to walk down the Mall back to the Smithsonian, and chose the right hand side to do it. Saw the Korea memorial etc but the VN one was on the other side.
Looks like I shall have to go back.

The Vietnam Memorial is beautiful in its simplicity , people are there around the clock , many people will find the name they're looking for put their hand on it and just stay and meditate , I have a few comrades listed and when I'm there I look them up .

I believe that there is a site that lists the exact spot for every one of those 58,000 names.

Yes the names are listed in Chronological order year month day they were killed , also those who died out of Country for wounds suffered in Vietnam have been added to the list , I think what bring such sadness to this Memorial is the ages of the fallen which average 19 years old . Something to think about , eh ? .
SJ you come to TN and you and I will pickup Jerry and we'll all to the WALL .
