Australian governments have been paying illegal immigrants to return home for years, the payment plus airfare falls well short of the costs involved in detaining them.
They might attempt to return but that is now almost impossible as Operation Sovereign Border patrols are on alert and the Indonesian government is cooperating again, as they did with Pacific Solution that stopped the boats coming in years past before the socialists abandoned those deterrents and started using Navy ships as ferries to assist boat passengers to arrive safely. To arrive by air requires a passport and visa.
There have been no boat arrivals for 6 months but we do have 50,000 illegals awaiting processing. Since Sovereign Borders commenced more illegals have left than arrived after the present Coalition Government took office.

Why would they? Well why did they until the adults shut the sea lane?
1) Great country to live in.
2) Welfare system provides for many loopholes to allow a lifetime of not working, disability pension for example, supports first family.
3) Muslims can have up to four wives and many children and they receive single mother benefits and child support.
4) Government guaranteed home with rental subsidised by taxpayers and up to $10,000 for furnishings.
5) Dual passport holders can return home as they please, operate businesses at home, fight in civil wars ....
And much more, infrastructure and government services access without having ever paid tax.

One I forgot, break laws, rape young woman, bash police officers and do other crimes, unless you are unlucky a magistrate will accept that you are culturally different and therefore cannot be expected to understand Australia's laws. After all the country you came from does not expect men to respect women, or infidel's laws.

In terms of resources yes, (except for diamonds, gem and industrial) but not in trade and finance.
Who do you think has been paying your Walmart bill all these years? And you do not have any factories left anymore. Everything you buy is made overseas.
