Some fought the US in Iraq, but, now in Libya, they're helping the US-friendly regime to enforce the peace. I'm not convinced, but I'm hopeful this is the start of a new trend.
We all know of how the Afghans are turning their rifles on their Western allies, but the Germans and Japanese did become American allies, and the Soviet Union did side with the West during the First Gulf War.
