A Vancouverite is claiming to be an ordained Minister of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, and he is fighting for his religious right to wear a colander on his head while getting a photo for his driver's licence. This movement is actually a parody to poke at religions and, in particular, those that believe in intelligent design or creationism. I have no problem with their method, and I can even accept them wanting to wear a spaghetti strainer. But, if they want equal time with other religions, to me if to no one else, they must deal with the fact that other religions have recorded instances of miracles that cannot be explained. The Catholics have their Miracle at Fatima, for example, and the Flying Spaghetti Monster hasn't shown its power. To be a bit more serious, this is the central flaw in their attempts to make fun of religion - their Church cannot replicate miracles found in other religions, and they cannot explain how those miracles came about. And that's the difference between their Church and the mainstream religions.

To be a bit more serious, this is the central flaw in their attempts to make fun of religion - their Church cannot replicate miracles found in other religions, and they cannot explain how those miracles came about. And that's the difference between their Church and the mainstream religions. What nonsense! No evidence is required for a religion or superstition. Nonsense is nonsense. Besides that, anybody can claim anything was a miracle. There is no reason for the Flying Spaghetti Monster to be held to higher standards than other religious nonsense. However, there is an issue. Does this guy really believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster? Or does he only say he does? But the Mormons don't have to prove they believe in their nonsense, do they? I think many Mormons join just for the social club and really don't believe the Mormon nonsense. So what's the difference here? Sounds like they have to let him do whatever other religions are allowed or else you will be in some dangerous ground for the other religions. -Don- Reno, NV

Does this guy really believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster? Or does he only say he does? I don't think he does - it's a spoof by die-hard atheists to show that all religions are, as you say, nonsense.

I don't think he does - it's a spoof by die-hard atheists to show that all religions are, as you say, nonsense. That is why they should not give any religion any special right under the law. It has to apply to all religions equally. Even the Flying Spaghetti religion. BTW, IMAO, the Flying Spaghetti Monster religious nonsense is as real as any other religious nonsense. Like I said, nonsense is nonsense, regardless of how many people believe in it and regardless of what anybody claims they saw. And regardless of how many wittiness they claim was there to see whatever miracle they claim. But there are some true miracles: "The microprocessor is a miracle." -Bill Gates -Don Quoteman, Reno, NV

This is their story. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flying_Spaghetti_MonsterI recall there was there somebody Italian who announced that he wants some religious rights for his Pastafarian religion, such as the right to wear spaghetti on his head in the public on Sundays, or something such as that.

Here in the USA, we have to let all religions go by their nonsense equally as far as rules, but none can break laws. The very best way to treat all religions equally is to not allow any of them demonstrate their nonsense as far as rules are concerned. -Don- Reno, NV

I feel that would actually be a good idea. (I'm serious.) But no one has come back after death to complain that there was nothing there........ No plaintiff, no legal case!

Does she really believe? "I'm a really proud, outspoken atheist," she said. Seems like fraud to me, by her own words. -Don- SSF, CA
