He wants to change Art 9, which forbids the country from going to war. I think he should do that, because Japan has vital interests in the rest of the world, as recent events have shown.

Swampy during the 1990s the then Japanese prime minister visited Canberra, Australia on his return from Washington, USA following talks with the POTUS. I read at the time that they had agreed on a plan that would enable Japanese citizens to be evacuated to the US and to Australia in the event of a war starting that threatened Japan.
A couple of years ago this relationship between our three countries was strengthened with the US and Japan being granted better access to military bases in Australia. Noting too that Singapore has used RAAF airfields for decades for pilot training and exercises using their fighter jets many of which are kept in Australia obviously for security purposes and the lack of land area at home to keep them there.
So maybe this is a clue to why the Japanese Government wants to change the Constitution?
