China has landed its first jet on an aircraft carrier, to show its military prowess. That's impressive, but this is the swan song of a country that has past its economic heyday. And, with an aging population, it will NOT be able to challenge the number one power on this planet - Australia.

It is my understanding that a married couple is allowed only one child. That means a 50% reduction in population every generation.

The one-child policy is still in effect, though they've granted some exemptions. That said, the trend all over the world is to have falling birth rates, and China is the most extreme case. That's not going to change, and they will soon be a stagnant if not declining power.

.....and unless they stop killing or aborting females, the sex ratio will get ever more out of balance and in due course badly disrupt Chinese society. As it is now becoming obvious.
Not to mention it speeds up the aging data on all of China.

Chinese vs. Russian relations

Well, there may be similarities, but I can't see the Chinese insides being the same as the Russian ones. I mean, China is the world's second-largest economy, and it can manufacture electronics in a way Russia can only dream of. So the Chinese aircraft would have amenities that the Russian equivalent would not, which means they're not the same.

You could be right about the electronics, I don't know much in this area, but Russia is far ahead of China when it comes to jet engines.

Swampy,
The RR 'Nene' was the latest British jet engine in 1945/6.
Komrade klement attlee was the socialist PM of Britain, and he sent over 6x copies for his good mate komrade joseph stalin.
They were 'reverse engineered' and ended up in the MiG 15 much to the surprise of the US 'Sabre' pilots.
