I'm writing this on the 6th of Dec, which is the Independence Day of Finland; and Christmas is approaching within less than a month; so as a pianist -- I decided to post a tiny musical postcard from across the Atlantic Ocean. The following is the march of the revolutionaries who liberated Finland in 1914-1918 from under the iron boots of Imperial Russia: (With a translation!) www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7b8E2lgLY4Two Christmas songs from Continental Europe: www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hTeo7Alyw0www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNps7JhM3bII chose them in this postcard posting, since I like them both because of the original German language words: "Von Himmel hoch, da komm ich her....." i. e. "From the heights of the Heavens, I come here ....." One of my favourite ideas is that high quality art is healthy for one's psyche -- I'm not attempting to present anything religious here. -- But, some European military music could very well be OK for this forum.
