Since this is a MILITARY forum, I thought I would share with you my today's escapades.
I went to Ft Hood (which is I believe the largest Army post in the country) to get a new post tag for my Jeep. Things have sure been streamlined since I was last in! I got to the visitor center and took a number which put me in back of about 25 others. One of the admin staff asked if I was retired and I said "yes" so he said to follow him. I went to a smaller building with no one there and was out in five minutes with a new tag. I'm not sure if they isolated me because I stunk, was an old fart, or what, but it was a good experience. We went to the PX after that and just walked around. The PX at Hood was built the last year I was there(early 80s) or maybe late 70s and it has been expanded. It is way HUGE! Didn't buy anything, just ate lunch.
On the way home we stopped at where will be my wife and my final resting spot, the Central Texas Veteran's Cemetary, about 10 miles from the post. It is set in a beautiful location and is very tasteful. Since we are both going to be cremated, we wanted to see our spot (we will be side by side since she is also a vet and we couldn't be buried in the same "box"). I took pictures and will send them to my kids with the notation that since they will never come to see us after we die, this is where we will be so save yourself the trip.
All in all, a good day.
