Hobo Woods 12 klicks (kilometers) west of Cu Chi the tree stumps made it impossible to land so the grunts had to jump and made you a great big fat target , first time I was shot down was in Hobo Woods the good thing about it didn't have far to land .

The Diggers did not need choppers, they went "via the bush" and never on roads or tracks.
If they came across a division of NVA they just called in the 9th to clear a path.

I'll be the first to tip my hat to the diggers they were very professional handled them selves very well the biggest thing that could be said is there wasn't enough of them to go around a reinforced Brigade was it they were reduced to be a active constabulary troops in Bein Hoa province .

Big debate over here back then about the contingent.
This country has trouble getting more than 5000 men at the pointy end at any one time. Personnel, logistics, and transport being the main points. For the cost of ONE new Destroyer, we could fix all of those problems almost overnight.
Then again, a Digger is worth 10 GIs so........

They should have left the SKs alone to get on and win the war.
Th SKs were worth about 5 GIs, and they hated the communists.

When we talk about how Koreans were worth more than GI we need to remember that there would have been no South Korea if it wasn't for the Americans
