Awesome! I've been wondering where I want to end up my days. As of now, it could be San Francisco, Australia, or New Zealand - someplace different.

Awesome! I've been wondering where I want to end up my days. As of now, it could be San Francisco, Australia, or New Zealand - someplace different. I've always found it interesting how people, who I think live in a wonderful place, want to move somewhere else. For example, I love Vancouver, Australia and Germany but many people would love to live where I live. It's all a matter of taste and how much wanderlust one has.

I love visiting those places, Denny, but I do, in fact, live in a wonderful place!
A modest size town of about 18,000 with a relatively low crime rate (we don't even lock our doors at night [don't spread it around]), just 3/4 of a mile from Carlisle Barracks with a PX, Commissary, Health Clinic, Dispensary, JAG, etc. and just 30 minute drive to the airport where my airplane is hangared. All the benefits of a small town with the advantages of large metropolitan areas available within two hours drive from Washington, DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia and NYC.
Seasons do change giving variety to life and there are hills, mountains, trees and grass to make the geography interesting. Wildlife abounds for those who enjoy looking or hunting and crossing interstates make travel north-south or east-west simple and immediately available. The North and South Mountains shelter us from much of the severe weather that may find its way into the area and polution is nearly non-existant. I love to travel, but it is nice to get back home also....
Ooops - almost forgot - no state income tax on retirement funds....

I agree that there are many places in the world that offer good living conditions. My brother lives in Hong Kong, he lived there for a couple of decades and returned to Australia and after a few years went back. He says HK is where to make money and Oz is a nice place for holidays.

When I was young, I wanted to move to Canada, and I begged my parents to let that happen. Now that I've been a Canadian for several decades, I want to get another citizenship. It's a desire to do something different.

Swampy I am a wanderer at heart, even living in my rather attractive area I travel around it at least 3-4 days every week. My 4WD van has a German Shepherd friendly section replacing the third row seats and where we, a friend and us, go he is walked after breakfast coffee and food, and after a drive. The drives are of 160 to 300 miles average and always to walking areas with take away lunch food of the healthy variety or cafe or restaurant. Our next year plan is already booked, our nation's capital Canberra first week of February, National Gallery tickets to view Toulouse-Lautrec works of art and then out west to central Australia to visit friends. Later in the year a wedding in Qld and then to New Zealand. Closer to next Christmas a wedding in Victoria and more in between. premier.ticketek.com.au/shows/show.aspx?sh=TOULOUSE13#.UNQsNW9LMbo
