"Escape, Evasion and Revenge" by Marc Stevens tells the story of his father, Peter Stevens, born Georg Heil in Germany, who escaped to England, joined the Royal Air Force, and, in WWII, bombed the city in which he had been born and raised. www.journal.forces.gc.ca/vol12/no4/page92-eng.asp

A lot of Germans fled Hitler's regime to fight Der Fuhrer's Reich - one of Kissinger's mentors was a Prussian who left to join the US Army, and, of course, Admiral Canaris of German Intelligence actively worked for the British.

I have always been fascinated by the situation of a man called Eisenhower ("Ironworker" I believe) commanding the push into Germany from the west.

I have always been fascinated by the situation of a man called Eisenhower ("Ironworker" I believe) commanding the push into Germany from the west. SJ In one of the TV docudramas about his life, the character said, after seeing the concentration camps, that he was ashamed his name was Eisenhower. I like that.
