I'm going to start an ongoing thread here, just like what I have been doing in the Australian forum. Insurgents have fired rockets into a US base, damaging a general's plane. Fortunately, no one was hurt. The Taliban is claiming responsibility, but US intelligence doubts it was behind it. This seems to imply there are other groups besides the Taliban fighting the coalition forces. The news article also says the Taliban likes to take credit for hits, even if they had nothing to do with it. Talk about bs bragging rights.

The article that I read indicates that this is a 'once every couple of weeks event" and the only thing that made it newsworthy was that the General's plane was there and got hit by small pieces of shrapnel. Afghanistan is far from being secure and not only do we have to be on guard for attacks from outside the wire, but not all of those inside the wire are to be trusted. A lot like Vietnam on steroids...

This time, however, the insurgents don't have a sugar daddy like the SU, not to mention a sugar mommy like Maoist China. That said, they still get funding from influential groups in Pakistan.
