Actually I represented myself at the Family Court and on advice conducted settlement negotiations with the lawyer acting for my former wife.
Yes I did get legal advice from a solicitor and we were amused when the solicitor for the former wife phoned my solicitor requesting him to be the negotiator. He politely declined.
That was a very long time ago.
